Mission Statement
Emerson Elementary School's
primary mission is to provide all students with the educational environment to
become self-directed life long learners contributing positively in an
multicultural society; to achieve this, a primary focus and emphasis will be
in reading instruction so that learning to read becomes reading to learn. This
will result in educational excellence and grant the opportunity for our
students to be successful in an ever changing society. Together with parents
and community members, our entire resources will be devoted to achieving this
goal as we enter the next millennium.

School History
Our School was named after
Ralph
Waldo Emerson.
His original profession and
calling was as a Unitarian minister. Emerson left the ministry to pursue a career
in writing and public speaking. He became one of America's best known and best
loved 19th century figures.

Our mascot is a gray fox due to
a family of foxes living under our portable. As a result, one of the
morning news broadcaster for our closed caption TV station,
WFOX, is a paper
maché fox puppet dressed in the school uniform.
